Hearing footfalls behind me, I turned around... to face Buffy. A face I hadn't seen in an awfully long time. And one I didn't think I would be able to see ever again. "Buffy!" I exclaimed, my voice reflecting genuine happiness. Next thing I knew, I had launched myself at her and was now holding her in a gigantic bear hug that would've crushed her if she hadn't been a Slayer.
After what seemed like a long while, I finally let go of her. "Uhm, Buffy," I started, not sure what to say, "I see you've managed to find some clothes." I grinned. "Unfortunately, I'm haven't been so lucky. Forgive me for my current state of undress, I hope it won't leave a permanent emotional scar on you," I joked.
Turning to Jeera, I smiled and said slowly, in a voice loud and clear, accompanied by gestures, "Could you please hurry with my clothes?"
This was so embarassing... why couldn't I have found a piece of cloth?
Taking the boy from Jeera I started to explain, honest I was gonna tell Giles all about how Jeera's husband got smooshed by a rock, a big rock and how by the time we had gotten the rock off of him, he was already a pancake and so Jeera had come to me to ask me to name her baby cuz that was the customs, for a dude to name a child. I had the explanation all worked outwhen low and behold there was a Buffy being hugged by a naked Giles.
"B-buffy..." Okay, so now this was getting surreal. It was like some dream, not the dream that made Naeva cover my lap with towels...or the dream that made me wake up screaming, a good dream...and unreal dream.
I just stood there, staring in shock...my one eye wide and my lips parted. Feeling the very soft tugs on my hair by the child in my arms, I shifted him to the other hip and moved to tentatively poke the blond Slayer in the arm.
Jeera blinked her grey eyes and spoke quickly in her musical language, gesturing for Gile and Buffy to follow her to her nest, holding the cloth 'door' for everybody to enter her 'cosy' ( aka...small) home.
I looked at Xander stadning next to Giles, talking to some woman I did not know. He had managed to find clothes too, more than I can say for poor Giles here. His face was rather funny as he looked at me being hugged by Giles. He walked over and hugged me too. Then, that lady gestured to us to follow her somewhere. I nodded to Giles and Xander.
"Hey Xand. Glad to see me? Although, I don't know why any of us are here, do you?"
We had started to walk, following that lady towards some sort of..nest maybe? We entered and I saw that it must be her home.
My face lit up with joy as Giles hugged me. But I have to say, it was sort of weird and uncomfortable with the fact that Giles didn't have any clothes on whatsoever. But it was Giles. I was still happy to see him anyway. I hugged him back and when he finally let go of me, my bons ached because he had been holding me so tight. Couldn't blame him though. I was just as excited to see him and Xander. I am still very confused though.
"Hi Giles." I said to him as he withdrew from hugging me. "Do you have any idea what happened? I remember dying, and now we are very much living. And..who's she?" I asked, gesturing towards a woman standing with them.
I stared off into space, wondering how this could be. One by one, the old team was being brought back... I snapped out of my reverie when Buffy asked me something.
"Oh," I gestured at the other woman, "this is Jeera. She's a friend of Xander's."
Following Buffy into the tent-like structure (which turned to be Jeera's home), I said, "I, uh, I haven't any theories yet why we're, uh, resurrected." I never thought I would be saying this, ever, but...
"Perhaps Xander might know something of it. I can tell he's been here with them for a some time now, so I don't believe that he was brought back like us, though I have no idea how else he could've survived that long."
I walked into this "Jeera's" home and turned back to look at Giles.
"Yeah, I just was alive. I don't remember anything at all. And yeah, Xander seems to know his way around and the people. But yeah, how could he have survived when me being the slayer didn't even live..?" I looked at Giles confusingly.
"And have we seen anyone else miraculously come back like us? Will, Faith..Dawn?" I paused. "Oh my god. Wheres dawn?" I thought about this and my mind went blank. I couldn't remember anything..maybe seeing her..wherever I was after I had died.
"Giles, maybe we should ask Xander. After all, he seems to know his way around, and we don't.
I shook my head. "Apart from you and Xander, I haven't seen anyone else I recognised. No, I don't believe anyone came back before us. Xander was very surprised to see me. Had this sort of thing happened before, he would have expected us to return, too."
I looked thoughtful. "He said something about, uh, a little gay man... who looked like a girl. Oh, a-and he mentioned that a... 'Nav'... might have some information on our, uh, our resurrection."
I stared blankly after her Blonde Buffness and then Giles as the followed Jeera. This was not happening. Following them with a tiny frown, I was lost in my own little world. I heard everything around me even as I moved to help Jeera. Little Giles with his dusty brown hair and freckles and too serious for a child grey eyes studied the strangers...and I could see the questions flickering through his eyes.
Stooping to sort through the bin of clothing, I continued to listen, hearing my name come up quite a bit before I raised my hand slowly. "Hey...Xander happens to be right here. Xander knows nothing. Xander says 'i've missed you'." My tone sarcastic yet light and almost teasing."
Jeera neared Giles, looking up at the male and then back down her head tilting to the side before she tapped her scissors against her lips and scurried back to her work table to finish whatever she was working on.
I handed the staring little boy a pair of soft fitted grey pants and a tunic like shirt to hand to Buffy. Well...it's what most of the females wore. He murmured something about 'golden hair' and offered a shy smile to Buffy as he held out the clothing to her.
Then I cleared my throat. "So..Jeera, pants, man pants for Giles? The big Giles?" I shook my head a bit, scratching the skin above my empty eye socket. "I'm sure he'd hate for it to suddenly get..uh cold..."
I didn't realise I was ignoring Xander. It was just like the old times when I used to purposely ignore his babbling.
I turned my gaze onto the boy, the other Giles (Xander didn't explain why he was named 'Giles', but I more or less understood), to see that he was a staring at me, his piercing grey eyes studying us. Curious young lad. I caught his 'golden hair' comment to Buffy, and I smiled. And bright, too.
Now we just had to meet this 'Nav' whom Xander mentioned. I could tell he was going to be an... interesting... person, to say the least.
I looked down at the little boy as he handed me some clothes. Oh thank god. Clothes. This is way better than what I have on now. I won't have to walk around clutching a tattered cloth to my body anymore. I took them from him and smiled.
"Thank you." I looked to Giles. Now he really could use some clothes.
Then I glanced at Xander. "Hey, I'm sorry. It's just we came back and I don't know how or why. It's all very confusing and sort of scary. I've already been resurrected once beofe, but this time its..different. You know?"
I smiled at him and then glanced back at Giles just as he was recieving some clothes too. I put mine on and was much more comfortable now.
I sighed in relief and then looked back at Xand. "So, any idea when this 'Nav' is coming to see us with info?"
I looked at Giles, confused but still listening. I sighed. I wonder if everyone will come back sooner or later. Like Will, Dawn, the whole gang. But Xander seems like he's been here, but I'm still very lost on how that is possible.
After Giles said something about a little gay man, I couldn't help but laugh. I stopped and looked at him and just burst out laughing. Yeah, maybe not the time to do this, but oh well. Then when he said this 'Nav' might have information for us, I stopped laughing.
I continued walking up to where Xander and this Jeera had stopped inside.
I accepted my clothes with relief. Finally! After several uncomfortable minutes, I was back in clothes. "Thank you, Giles," I said to the boy who had handed me the clothes (loose, grey shirt and trousers).
I was now, at least, clad.
"Right. This 'Nav'... we really have to meet him soon, and see if he has any ideas at all what happened to us," I chimed in.
I ruffled Little G's hair and smiled as he darted to his mother's side, to stare at the strangers from there.
Turning back to Giles and Buffy I smiled a bit sheepishly. "You...really want to meet Nav?" I ran my fingers through my hair. Ooooh Boy. "Right, okay I'd love to arrange that honestly."
Waving a bit and muttering Thank You to Jeera in her own language I ducked out of the nest, waiting for Buffy and Giles to follow before continuing. "Just a few things, he um...is kinda different. Really different in fact, so different that he goes beyond different." I was making no sense. "I mean not that you don't know what different is like but he's different and babbly and girly looking and freaky and he pokes people and talks about all *kinds* of freaky shit and..."
I caught myself babbling and quickly cut myself off before standing infront of our nest, rubbing my hands over my face. "Just...um...ask him if he wants to talk first, don't go right to the questions. He doesn't like to feel pressured and I'm out of this herb that helps him with his headaches."
There is was out. I peeked into the dim small cave like home or 'nest' and called out softly. "Nav? I've brought you some visitors..." But something was wrong. He wasn't there. Oh...great.
Turning back to Buffy and Giles I shook my head. "He's out at the moment, can I get you guys some berry's and nuts? I'd offer something to drink but all we got is water." Yes stalling here...Naeva, where the hell was he...?!
"He's out? Oh, not a problem. I suppose we can wait."
I looked over my shoulder to see if there was somewhere I could sit down. I ended up settling down on a huge rock.
My stomach grumbled. How long was it since I last had a proper meal? I wondered. Not counting the period of my death, it still had been a long time. There wasn't an ample food supply back then, during the war. Yes, it certainly has been too long...
... 'Berries and nuts'... ? Oh, bother... now I'll never be able to have a proper meal!
"Yes, some food will be nice," I said instead, clutching my growling stomach. "And water, too." If berries and nuts were what I would be stuck eating for the rest of my life, I'd better get used to it.
After Xander lead us to another home like thing, we stopped at the doorway. Then, he told us tat this 'Nav' was out. That's just great. Any information we could get would be helpful, but I guess we would just have to wait until he comes back.
I sat down over on a rock next to Giles.
"Yeah, some food. I'm starving. Anything is good." I smiled at Xander as he went off.
"Giles, I wonder if anyone else is here, we just don't know it yet. Like, Faith, the whole gang. If we came back, then they probably would have too..right?"
"Yes, they would..." I agreed, scratching my chin thoughtfully. "I-I... feel like I've read this sort of thing before... a prophecy of some sort, perhaps..." I spouted, then shook my head. "U-unfortunately, I can't recall anything. Damn, I wish I have my books..."
And it was true. I couldn't remember everything I used to. The many years out of practice must have gotten to me... or I was getting old.
Either way, I didn't like it.
I listened to the two talk as I moved around the cozy place I called home, carefully mixing the little red and purple berries with the nuts that kinda reminded me of like peanuts or something, but they were green. I listened, and distributed the mixture in the small clay bowls before moving back to the main part of the nest and placing them before my guests.
"Bon a petite...I made it myself, so you're getting a homecooked meal. Just...minus the uh, cooking." I looked between the two before gesturing to the cushion like pallets. "Make yourself comfy and um...eat up and uh, awfully sorry about the no Nav thing, I mean...he rarely leaves the nest and then when he does he tells me.."
Swallowing I smiled a bit sheepish. "He, uh sometimes forgets to eat. That's all." I paused. " So...um. Wow. Long time no see."
I looked at where Xander was pointing. Oh, they've got pallets. I'd thought everything would be done on rocks. I moved over to settle on the more comfortable perch. "Thank you." I accepted the clay bowl. A beat. "I don't suppose you have any utensils here?" I asked, glancing around. Thinking the answer was 'no', I waved dismissively. "Ah, no matter."
I picked one of the small berries and ate it. Then I tried a nut (at first, I'd thought they were peanuts, but they were green in colour). Surprisingly, these didn't taste half-bad. In fact, they were quite good.
Things didn't seem to be too bad after all. I could live with this.
I saw Xander come back out and hand Giles and I a bowl of berries. I started eating them and they were actually good. I smiled at Xand.
"So..Xand. You don't know when this guy will be coming back? What should we do in the meantime?"
I watched them eat and paced a bit before frowning and they were asking me questions that I had no answers to and this was kinda weird. I mean...I saw Gile's strapped to that rock and the little demon guys ripping his guts out. I saw Buffy take a serious stab wound and keep fighting to clear a pathway before dropping dead. I saw it with my own two..well my own one eye.
Running my hands through my hair and finally stopped pacing. "C'mon...need to have meeting, introduce you to elders, you're like legends ya know?"
I offered a hand to Buffy, to help her up before looking back to Giles. "Got some stuff maybe you could look at." Then to Buffy. "And you need to meet the chick named after you."
I let Xander help me up and I looked up at him. But then my face expression changed.
"Theres a chick named after me?" I asked, suprised and sortof weirded out. Someone was named after me now? Since I had died? Oh, I was famous. I smiled then.
I followed him as he began to walk, Giles following behind.
I immediately looked up at Xander. "S-some stuff I could look at?" I asked, keeping my rush of happiness in check. "Could they be books, perchance?" If there weren't any books here in the future, I swear I'd have to start writing some of my own.
Hm. I never thought that in the future people would be named after us. And to think back then, we were regarded as more of troublemakers than heroes... still, it was a pleasant surprise. We hadn't died in vain, after all.
Seeing as Xander and Buffy had already started walking, I got up from my seat and followed them out.
I chuckled softly and nodded to Buffy. "Oh yeaaah...and rightly so. She found away to braid her hair to bring out her cheekbones apparently. Very fashion concious that one."
This was weird, really weird. Buffy was here, not bleeding and alive. Warm and breathing and alive. I looked back at Giles. "Yeah, some books. Just try to wait to orgasm away from the books, they are quite old."
I led them to a different part of the caves, small children running around and I called out. "Buffy!" I switched to their language. "There is somebody I want you to meet."
I watched as the leggy blond kid, I think she was about 8 now, skid to a halt, tilting her head to to the side. She was gonna be a beauty if she lived to get older. Blond hair braided in a complicated style, pulling her hair out of her face but leaving some still out and falling down her back. Bluegrey eyes inquisitive as she studied the strangers, skin pale like all the rest of them but glowing with health.
"Buffy, meet Buffy." I smiled at the two, letting go of Buffy's hand. "I'll...leave you two alone, to get to know each other."
I looked to Giles before gesturing for him to follow me further into the cave.
"I-I... " I sputtered, cheeks flushing. "Well, I assure you, Xander, I won't orgasm on anything inappropriate. I didn't know you even cared about your books... ?" I retorted.
The eight-year old Buffy skidded to a half near us. Smiling, I greeted her with a short "Hello", a slight wave and a nod, as I didn't think she would understand English. I noticed that she had blond hair... how appropriately named, I thought.
I casted one last glance at the Buffies before following Xander away. Idly, I wondered how they were going to 'get to know each other'. Sign language, perhaps? Or perhaps Xander taught little Buffy a bit of English.
I stopped where Xander had shown me the girl.
"Oh my god, its a mini-me!" I whispered to him, shocked how much she really did look like me.
Then, Xander left us alone, which was very awkward, since this girl looked like me, and that I didn't know a word of her language.
I put my hand out to shake the little Buffy's hand.
I turned to watch Xander and Giles go. I was hoping that they wouldn't leave me here the whole time.
Little Buffy's head tilted to the side as she studied Buffy. She asked something softly in her own language as she reached out and clasped the strange woman's hand. "I Buffy." Strongly accented English there as she hmmed softly and then nodded firmly with a smile. She had made another friend, so...she just started off in her own language pointing to different 'nests' and pointing to her friends and gesturing every now and them...at one point making a 'duh' face at a question thrown to her by one of her little play mates.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch.
I chuckled, remaining silent as I led Giles further into the caves, pausing to wiggle a torch out of it's home on the wall. "One thing about this century that sucks...the lack of electric lighting." I shook my head as we made our way through a hole in a rock wall formation.
Moving the torch higher to shed some light on the scene, I glanced at Giles to gauge his reaction. I hadn't been able to make shelves but the stacks of books were neat atleast.
Journals of survivors of the purge...ancient texts, scrolls of prophesy...god, we had too many books and nobody save for perhaps Navi and myself ( when I was like, bored off of my ass) ever seemed to spend anytime here. They called it the ghost room, and something about the records made the people around here twitchy.
"Mm," I nodded absently at Xander's lighting comment. I looked at the rock formations and the torches with intrigue. "Still, it is quite intriguing. Living the way our ancestors had lived, " I commented, then added a bit too happily, "with no computers." That statement inadvertently led me to think of Willow. Was she ever coming back? There was no guarantee, but from what I've seen, she (being part of the old gang) was coming back. I had to chuckle at the thought of Willow existing in a world without computers.
"My... God..." I breathed as I saw the books stacked up in the chamber. There were more books here than I had ever seen before in my life! This would keep me busy for a very long time... I walked over and picked up a thick, musty old volume, opening it up. The book was in Latin. I was glad to see that the language hadn't disappeared. Hm... the contents looked familiar... I closed it and looked at the cover. Oh, it's the Pergamum Codex.
I set the book back on the top of a pile and grinned broadly, turning to face Xander. "This is brilliant... !"
The little Buffy had walked away from me after a few minutes, obviously bored. And I had no idea what to say to her, she looked exactly like me for gods sake. I walked back towards where I saw Xander lead Giles. I came into a cave where I heard their voices.
I walked up to them. "Uh that was creepy..just so you know. And do we have any idea what happened yet?" I stopped and took a look at all the books there were.
"Wow, check it out. It's Giles central." I said with a grin.
I continued grinning. "Indeed it is."
I walked around the piles again, eager to see what other books they had there. I frowned as I saw a book with a very, very familiar brown leather cover. It was old and dusty now, but I knew I'd recognise it if I saw it. I opened it up, and read an entry. Oh my God...
My first thought was 'Thank God my diary survived!'. Then came 'Oh, bugger... what was my diary doing here?! Had anyone read it? Had *Xander* read it?!'. I mentally berated myself for having actually written everything (including letting out my feelings... which no one probably expected of me) in my diary.
I glanced around quickly, making sure that no one was looking, before snatching the diary hastily and sliding it into my trouser pocket. It would be best if no one else read it. I'd worry about who had *already* read it later.
I looked around at them to make sure that they didn't notice anything, then regained my composure.
"Uh, no... I haven't a clue what happened to us yet," I replied to Buffy's earlier question. Of course, there was also good news. "B-But I'm quite sure one of these books would help."
I sighed then groaned. "Okay..well thats good Giles. Start readin those books, anything to get us ot of here or..anything."
I plopped down on the ground and leaned up against the wall.
"Giles, this is scary. And I'm not usually scared..you know that." I said, looking up at him through exhausted eyes.
"I know. I must admit, I'm somewhat overwhelmed by all this too. But still... this is all rather fascinating, don't you think? I mean... " I started, but cut myself off quickly. "Sorry, I'm afraid my curiosity will never be sated." I grinned, embarrassed.
I looked down and watched my feet as they moved towards the nearest pile of books. I picked up a book and started flipping through it, trying to pick out anything that might help us. I found something interesting, so I closed it and tucked it under my arm.
Pondering her words, I looked up at her gravely. "You must understand, however, that resurrections are very serious matters. We can't simply undo what was done, done to *us* especially."
"Perhaps this is what was destined to happen. It occurred to me that we might've been brought back for a higher purpose."
I looked away and sighed.
"I'll try my best to find something pertaining to our current situation, but I don't think we'll ever be able to get out of here."
I looked up at Giles as he talked.
"I know, and I've been brought back before, but..this is different, this isn't 'home'." I said to him.
"A higher purpose? What could bring us back for a higer purpose?"
"What, never get out?" I asked him, serious now. We couldn't stay here, forever. We didn't even know where 'here' is.
"Well, aren't you the least bit glad that you're alive again?" I asked her curiously, then regretted those words. "I'm so sorry... I-I hope you weren't pulled out of Heaven again like before. I don't remember anything before I was brought back, so, to be honest, I myself am rather glad that I'm here, alive and all."
"A higher being, perhaps, with greater powers. Honestly, I don't know. One could only assume that the Powers That Be has brought us back to restore the world to its former state. That is, the way everything was before our death and the triumph of evil."
I approached her, understanding her discomfort.
"Buffy... we won't be able to get out of here. That would require... time travel... or something along the lines of that. I am aware that this is not our home, but we'll just have to adapt to life here, I suppose. The way I understand it, there's absolutely no way for us to go back to the time after our deaths. And if you could, I doubt you'd want to. Demons with full reign of the Earth, terrorising the human race into hiding. Into these caves. Trust me, it is probably much safer here."
I laid a hand on her shoulder.
"I don't want you getting hurt. Any spell attempted to bring us back to our time has no guarantee that it will work. And even so, you could get killed back then. I'd like to believe that we have a much better chance of winning against the forces of evil right here, where humanity has already adapted to this sort of life."
I sighed, realizing he was right. Doesn't mean I felt any better, but he was right.
I was a bit taken aback when he asked me if I was glad that I was alive again. But he took it back and apoligized for it too.
"Me neither. I don't remember anything before I awoke." My voice drifted off.
"Giles..I have no clue where Willow, or Dawn or even Faith is for that matter. What if it was just us who returned? What if we're alone?" I asked, scared now. I didn't want us to be alone, in this place, and me without my sister or one of my best friends. Xander looks as if he's been here for a while.
I looked up at him, a tear forming now. I let it fall, not trying to hide it from him.
"Guess this is our new home then." I said a bit too sarcastically.
I crouched down to face her.
"You're not alone, Buffy. You've got Xander and me here. We'll get through this together," I told her, patting her shoulder comfortingly.
"Willow, Dawn and Faith are probably... somewhere safe," I said rather stupidly, knowing full well that what I'm about to say was hypocritical. "Would you want to bring them here, to a time like this, if you knew they would be safer elsewhere?" I breathed in sharply. I would.
I heard the sarcasm in her voice, and looked at her. I stood up promptly and gestured around.
"Indeed, this is our new home! I mean, d-don't you find all this fascinating? Leading a simple life, with no interference from technology..."
I grinned and lowered my head.
"I-I think it's very intriguing."
I was trying for a cheery tone, but I think I failed.
I could see that Giles was trying to cheer me up, but sadly, it wasn't really working. Everything was just so confusing, and weird.
I sighed, as I stood up and looked at him.
I arched an eyebrow as I saw him looking around the cave, obviously fascinated by it all. I chuckled as I walked up to him. I gave him a pat on the back.
"Giles, we all know you wouldn't care if there was no technology." I said, smiling at him.
I sighed. "So, any idea on where we should head now?" I asked, looking around. It didn't look like we had many routes to choose from.
I knew my attempt to cheer her up didn't succeed.
"Everything is going to be all right," I tried again, this time more somberly.
I grinned, looking down, on hearing her 'technology' comment.
I looked around at the various paths out of the chamber. "Do we have to get out of here this quickly? I rather like having the company of all these books," I mock-whined teasingly. "Um, honestly, d'you think that's a good idea? We might get lost..." I scratched the side of my head. "... get hunted by barbaric headhunters..."
I looked at him, a smile creeping onto my lips.
"Oh gee, that sounds great. Well, remember, I'm the slayer. I would protect us from the forces of evil." I said, walking up to him now.
"We could try one and hope it leads out." I said to him, saying it in the innocent voice I did so well.
"Oh, no... that innocent facade won't work on me..." I said, shaking my head, trying to do the 'resolve face' that Willow was so famous for, but failing at that.
"Oh, all right... " I gave in.
I did a 'go ahead' gesture.
"You lead the way."
I chuckled as I smiled at him.
"Okay.." I said, walking towards the first tunnel I saw leading out. Hopefully it lead out.
I walked out, turning around to see if Giles was with me. He was, so I turned my attention back to where I was going.
There was a lot of people running around, screaming and all.
I stopped and turned back to him.
"What do you think all the commotion is about?" I asked him with a confused look on mt face.
I saw Buffy looking around and then she was walking toward the first tunnel she cast her eyes on. I had to refrain from rolling my eyes. I just hoped it didn't lead to somewhere we weren't suppose to go to. And knowing our luck, that was bloody unlikely. Remembering what she said about her being the Slayer and all, I mentally agreed that whatever danger we might encounter, she could probably get us out of it. So I followed her out.
... to find many people running around, screaming like no tomorrow. I didn't see anything out of the ordinary apart from the commotion the people were making. No gargantuan demon or the likes of that.
"Dear lord... !" I breathed. What was happening here?
"What do you think all the commotion is about?"
I looked at her, then replied, "I'm not sure, but I certainly hope there isn't another apocalypse."
I stared at the scene.
I heard Giles say his famous 'dear lord' from behind me, so I was guessing that he was just as suprised about this scene as I was.
I turned back to him. "Oh god, another one. Not another one.." I said, almsot whining now. Why did there always have to be another one..
I sighed heavily and continued to walk. "Maybe we should just walk around some and see if we can fid Xander, or anyone again."
I closed my eyes as I heard the raised voices outside. This new breed of human being rarely screamed or panicked...it was not their way. They were celebrating...
Giles and Buffy had wandered off and I had thought maybe I should tell them that this world was very very different than they nice occasionally chaotic world they came from. I already knew I'd have the elders chewing my ass off about not being a good 'host'.
I rolled my eyes and made my way to the center of the caves, speaking softly to an older little man. "What is it now old man?" I smiled wistfully at his somber expression as he continued the soft chant of the dead.
Change of plans. I shook my head. "Yo, Buffy! G-Man!" I called out knowing the caves has like amazing acoustics. "Time to go sight seeing!" I nodded as the old man scampered off, collecting the sturdiest young men from his...well for lack of a better word, his army. They were pacifists, and they did not believe in harming other creatures, but they were fast and scouted well.
"Yes, we'll do that," I agreed.
Just then, I heard Xander's voice echoing through the tunnel we had just come out from.
"Yo, Buffy! G-Man!"
He was calling out to us. Was he in trouble? No, he didn't sound like he was in any sort of danger.
"Time to go sight seeing!"
I sighed. Good to know that he was safe, at least, what with all these people running around terrified.
I frowned, surprised, as an old man emerged from the tunnel and rushed past me, heading toward the crowd. I wondered what he was going to do. Get them to calm down or something of the sort? Oh, he was heading back toward us, toward the tunnel... with quite a few able-bodied young men trailing behind him.
Which further supported my unspoken theory that there was an invasion or a war of some kind happening.
Oh, I forgot about Xander for a moment.
"Yes, Xander, I'm coming!" I shouted back into the tunnel, hoping he'd hear me. I regretted it, of course, wondering if I had startled the old man. I looked back to check that Buffy was coming along, and then I made my way back into the tunnel.
I stopped when I heard Xander;s voice echo through the caves. I turned around to look at Giles, seeing that he had already started for that away again. I heard Xander yell for us to go..sight seeing? Um, okay. I started to follow Giles, and Xander's voice, wherever it was coming from.
"Kay! I'm coming." I yelled up ahaed. Giles turned around and I smiled at him as we continued to walk.
